Panko-breaded Cod Debuts in National Sampling Event
Being
land-locked doesn’t mean you can’t have the fresh flavors of the ocean
for summer. Long John Silver’s is swimming into the season with their
new Coastal Cod sandwich, bringing big flavors to your plate. The
Coastal Cod sandwich will debut on May 23 followed by a national
sampling event on May 26. The summer promotion will last for nine weeks,
ending on July 24. Customers can get the latest information on Coastal

“The flavors of this Coastal Cod are
surprising and satisfying. The Panko crumbs give it a light-tasting
crunchy bite that balances perfectly with the fresh flavor of the Cod,”
said Peter Czizek, Vice President of Culinary Innovation and Quality
Assurance. “What makes it unique is the single, hand-cut Cod fillet. It
is the highest quality fish sandwich in the marketplace.”
The Coastal Cod sandwich is 100 percent
wild-caught Alaskan Cod, breaded in Panko crumbs and lightly fried to
golden perfection. The quarter-pound hand-cut fillet is served on a
slightly sweet Hawaiian-style bun and complemented with tangy tartar
sauce and crisp dill pickle slices.
“We believe that people will love this
sandwich the minute they taste it, so we are giving them an opportunity
to sample it for free,” said Marilyn Nicholson, Vice President of
Marketing. “We can’t transport our customers directly to the Coast, but
this may be the next best thing.”
The national sampling event will take
place in participating Long John Silver’s restaurants across the country
on May 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dine-in customers will be served a

The Coastal Cod sandwich will be
available à la carte or in a combo, which includes fries and a 20-ounce
drink. The Coastal Cod Meal includes one fillet, two sides, two
hushpuppies and Long John Silver’s signature Crumblies. A piece of the
Coastal Cod may also be added to any meal.
Long John Silver’s wild-caught Cod and
Pollack come from the icy waters of the North Pacific Ocean, one of the
best-managed and most sustainable fisheries in the world. LJS fish is
fresh-caught, and flash-frozen while still aboard the fishing boats to
